The Panasonic MX950 is an excellent MiniLED model that will fulfil the role of living room workhorse for many consumers. It is not a screen that should be used for critical movie watching in dark surroundings, but anyone looking for a Panasonic model for that use will undoubtedly find what they're looking for with the MZ OLED models.

The MX950 is also not a replacement for the superb DX902 model from 2016 that won many fans over for its superb FALD backlight and cinematic images.

No, the MX950 is a solid Mini LED-equipped LCD TV that offers the type of image quality you expect from Panasonic, aimed at the mass market consumer looking for a bright set for living room use with gaming, sports and the occasional movie with the lights on.

There are two HDMI 2.1 (40Gbps) inputs with support for 4K/120 HDR10 gaming, VRR, ALLM and eARC, plus the True Game mode for excellent gaming image quality to the standards. While it does also feature some of the downsides associated with Mini LED LCD TVs, such as haloing, blooming and poor viewing angles, used in the bright room and watching directly onto the set, the image quality is very good for this sector of the market. It comes recommended.

*The good*
Very good bright room image quality and accuracy
Support for all HDR formats
True game picture mode, game bar and decent gaming features
Good sound quality

*The not so good*
Only two 40Gbps HDMI 2.1 ports with eARC using one
Poor viewing angles and haloing around bright objects
Blacks are weak in dim room viewing and black bars are not black
