Low level Bequerel Monitoring of food and water products can be accomplished with the Berkeley Nucleonics SAM 940-3G with the
added flexibility of a portable system for additional applications. Berkeley Nucleonics has released Bq Analysis Viewer 1.4 for users
wishing to make Bq measurements down to 10Bq / kilogram. The software needed is backwards compatible and existing customers of
the SAM 940 can easily begin making these measurements with little additional materials.
For best results, geometries will need to be fixed and a matrix of sources will be needed. The detector you already have will be
characterized for efficiency and then can be used immediately. A lead shield with copper lining is recommended as well and can be
purchased from a local vendor or from Berkeley Nucleonics. The SAM 940 is a versatile isotope identifier and Bq Measurement tool
that allows a wide range of applications to be met. Please contact the factory for updated Firmware and Software for your SAM 940,
information on shielding techniques and an application note as guidance for these low level measurements.
QCC, our patented algorithm that allows uniform peak height across a wide energy range (0-3MeV) ensures that the peak energy is
properly discriminated from background noise.
