Salve regina: 2 verses by Abraham van den Kerckhoven {~1618-~1701}, played by Dale Carr on the organ in Krewerd {prov. Groningen} ; recorded in July of 1985
It's not certain that these verses are by Van den Kerckhoven. The manuscript that contains them also contains all of the known works of Kerckhoven, attributing 26 of the pices to him and another 15 to other composers; the remaining 323 have no attribution. In addition, the MS is dated some 40 years after his death, so there's a lot of room for uncertainty.
But they're fine pieces, whoever the composer, and quite suitable for demonstrating the sounds of the organ in Krewerd, which was built in 1531.
Registrations:
- 8' Prestant;
- 8' Prestant + 2' Octaaf
