This is a collection of pieces that I thought would make a nice ‘suite’ of Purcell’s harpsichord works. It’s a hodge-podge in several senses:
- the pieces come from several different sources, and didn’t belong together till I assembled them;
- some are original harpsichord works, others are arrangements from stage works;
- the arrangements are probably not all by Purcell;
- they’re not all in the same key or the same mode;
- some have been transposed.
