0:05 DAY 1 – Paracas and Huacachina
Explore the coastal wildlife haven of Ballestas Islands, often called the “Poor Man’s Galápagos,” home to sea lions, penguins, and seabirds. Visit a Pisco vineyard to learn about Peru’s iconic spirit, followed by the desert oasis of Huacachina, surrounded by towering sand dunes.
01:08 DAY 2 – Sorayapampa (3,900m)
Begin the Salkantay Trek with an overnight at Sky Camp, a unique dome-stay under the stars. It’s an ideal spot for acclimatization with a hike to the stunning Humantay Lake, a glacial lake known for its brilliant turquoise waters.
02:46 DAY 3 – Salkantay Pass (4,650m)
Trek through the highest and most challenging section — Salkantay Pass. The landscape transitions from snowy alpine terrain to lush cloud forests as you descend. Expect dramatic mountain vistas and changing altitudes.
03:46 DAY 4 – Lucmabamba (2,100m)
Pass through Lucmabamba, a small village nestled in the jungle. Here, you can visit a local coffee plantation and unwind in nearby hot springs, perfect after several days of trekking.
07:21 DAY 5 – Llactapata (2,840m) & Machu Picchu
Trek to Llactapata Ruins, an Inca archaeological site that offers a first glimpse of Machu Picchu from afar. From here, make your final journey to Aguas Calientes, the base town before visiting Machu Picchu.
