For several years I have continued to support MANY of my favorite bands, as they evolve OR even struggle through line-up changes, label transitions & industry trends. However, just as important is the trepidation that comes from discovering NEW bands (& music) AND adding their names to your respective 'favorites' list. There is a complex validity even within the simplest concept of being a music 'fan'; AND, it is these two revelations that have kept the contrivance of RMW, not only STRONG, but ENDURING throughout our career. This year I was able to add a NEW band to my inventory & I would have never estimated they would arise from an obscure township like Kokomo, Indiana. Salem's Childe's 2nd FULL length record, 'Unbound' crossed my desk back in August 2024 & I was initially intrigued, by the TREMENDOUSLY heavy, brutal grooves of songs like the title track, 'Closer to the Bone' & one of my faves, 'Rise & Conquer'; their mid-tempo riffs, coupled with HUGE choruses make for quality songs that easily keep the listener rockin in the pocket. Later, as I researched the band's LONG history (& their respective tribulations) it made me respect MORE WHO they are as a band. SO, I knew when the band was coming through town as direct support for 'The Dirty Thirty' tour (on October 18th, 2024 at Bonds Rock Bar) that I had to connect with them & get ALL the gritty details any real fan would want to know.
