Prickly pear is native to the Americas but has been introduced to many other parts of the world. It was once a very important seasonal food for the survival of native tribes. But gathering prickly pears is not an easy task because the entire cactus, including the fruit, is covered by glochids and thorns. In this video I show my favorite primitive method to collect this delicious wild food and make it safe to eat.
