Sleep is extremely important but often more challenging in a primitive environment. Most humans are accustomed to spending their nights on expensive mattresses and covered in soft blankets often made of synthetic fibers. However, it is possible to create a comfortable mattress or sleeping mat from natural materials found in the wild.
In the previous video I made strong cordage from dry yucca fibers. In this video I gather 250 dry tule leaves, cut them to size with a sharp stone, and then weave small bundles of the tule leaves together using the yucca cordage. The result is a clean soft mat that I can lie on to get better sleep. The mat can be rolled up and stored away when not in use. Mats like these were commonly made and used by native peoples around the world.
