Students at Chalmers University in Gothenburg have developed autonomous bikes that mimic human cycling behaviour, carrying dummy riders and following controlled test scenarios.
Every year in Sweden, 12 cyclists lose their lives and 89 suffer serious injuries in collisions with vehicles, according to the Swedish Transport Administration. By using self-driving bikes, engineers can create safer, more realistic test environments – helping improve road safety in the future.
