The Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Trails in the Kii Mountain Range is an interesting and beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site in Japan. This site covers a series of shrines, temples, and pilgrimage routes in the Kii Mountain Range area of central Japan, south of Osaka. The famous Kumano Kodo hike is one of the best known parts. Although we'd hoped to visit several of the shrines and do some hiking ourselves, Typhoon Hagibis slammed into Japan during our visit and threw our plans into chaos! Unfortunately we were only able to visit one temple, which left us both disappointed and excited to return in the future.
