South Korea’s current account was in the black for the fourth straight month in August on the back of booming semiconductor exports.
Preliminary data from the Bank of Korea on Tuesday showed that the country’s current account balance in August recorded a surplus of 6-point-6 billion U.S. dollars.
It was driven by the goods account – which tracks exports and imports of products – logging a surplus and recording a 17th month in the black.
Exports amounted to more than 57 billion dollars as semiconductor chip exports rose by over 38 percent compared to the same month the previous year.

With cold air coming down from the northwest, this morning hit the lowest temperature of this fall in many places. In Seoul, the temperature was 11-point-6 degrees Celsius, which was 9 degrees lower than yesterday. The weather will continue to be colder than usual until tomorrow, so you should take a jacket with you when you go out.
Tomorrow, it will rain all over the country except Seoul and northern Gyeonggi-do Province. Rain will mainly fall in the Chungcheong-do provinces in the morning, and will expand to southern Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do Province in the afternoon. It will mostly stop at night, but rain will continue until Friday dawn in Jeollanam-do, the Gyeongsang-do provinces, and on Jeju Island.
Tomorrow, Busan and Jeju will start off at 18 degrees.
Highs will move up to 21 in Seoul, Busan, and Jeju.
After the weekend, there is a possibility that the rain clouds left by the typhoon will move near the Korean Peninsula and affect it. Thats all for Korea. Here are the weather conditions around the world.

A foggy start to the day for inland regions with Gimpo, Wonju, and Gwangju International Airport being under a low visibility warning. Meanwhile, rain is in the forecast for the east coast with strong winds. Eastern parts of Gangwon-do could see up to 40 millimeters of rainfall into tonight, while Jeju will see rain through this morning.
The temperature roller coaster keeps on rolling, its a cooler start to the day but the highs will be 1 to 5 degrees higher than yesterday afternoon. For a closer look,
Seoul and Daejeon gets up to 24 degrees under sunnier skies, and Busan will be rainy with a high of 25 degrees. Decent air quality in store nationwide.
Rain is in store for Jeju tomorrow, on Hangul Day, but the rest of the country will have pleasant autumn weather with large daily temperature differences.
