READ DESCRIPTION for more information (and probably answers to most questions)

Q/A:
(I probably forgot something, I'll go by whatever questions get posted in comments)

("Do I really have to do the halfwall decoy thing? ")
No, you can do the same with a random doorframe inside your gatehouse or something, provided it's close enough to the core to extend priv over it. So long as it's behind a door and not easily accessible it'll do the job. I'm just demonstrating a concept. You can take the ide and develop it.

("Why release this information? Isn't it a bit game-breaking?")
* I waited on releasing this information until seeing that a lot of people already figured it out. Since I don't think it's fair for a few to have a completely unfair advantage, and since I'd hate to have some player wake up to a griefed base, thinking his external TCs should have worked and not understanding what's going on, I think it's best to put this information out there, and more clever people than me can come up with multiple ways to get around it.

("Why not just hit the external TC compartment?")
*It's only the oldest building block that is close enough to the core to extend a priv bubble to it, AND has a TC upkeeping it, that matters. The actual external TC compartment will be well outside of range of the core to extend a build-priv bubble around it.
Also, people will sometimes set up the external TCs ahead of time, for area control, and only then build the arms, and not necessarily by order of external TC setup.

(Do I have to hit blocks with a torch?)
* You can hit blocks from a distance with guns/bows to get ID too, of course.
It's really effortless in almost all situations to use this exploit (or rather, core rust mechanic).

(How can I tell for sure that I know which TC to take over?)
*Hit more than just 3 blocks, as I do in the video.
And try hitting the blocks closest to the core, even inside the compound if possible. As mentioned, you can easily do this with a bow.
If you see that, consistently, one TC extension has the lowest ID numbers, it's surely the TC to take.

(What if I build the extensions in a haphazard way, one block from one external, one block from another, so that it's very difficult to tell which is the oldest?)
* Building the extensions (from externals to core) in a non-organized way (as in, building a block here, then a block there, etc) will perhaps confuse raiders trying to find the oldest blocks, BUT it also makes sure there's an "oldest block within TC priv" coming off of ALL external TCs, and so, in most cases, no matter which external TC they take over, they will have partial auth to the core, including the ability to close the raid and grief the base. So generally, don't do that, unless you tested it with your design and found that it works.

(Are there other solutions except decoys and stronger TCs?)
*Yes! In my old "Complete Guide to Wallstacking" Video I show a concept for a 3-way-satori-disconnectable.
Basically a TC compartment that has disconnectable arms leading towards the core, as well as towards its two neighbouring external TCs. That is probably the most odd but "elegant" solution. Hm. Well I guess there's no real elegance when it comes to this issue.

(What about vertical TC priv? Will that little halfwall cover a very tall base?)
* Its rather impossible to "bury" and hide widegap support frames, so keep that in mind for very tall bases (usually 5 floors high or more). That said, it's impossible to actually place a new TC in the core without taking out ALL external TCs, so it shouldn't really matter. The other externals, with widegaps, will extend their own protection to the roof where the buried halfwall does not.
But you can, of course, bury a frame too (higher).

(Why are you making it 15 rockets to get TC when I can simply disconnect the TC for 8?)
* It's fine to have 15 rocket TC compartments with 8 rocket disconnection cost, since at that point raiders are forced to destroy all TC connections for core auth.
In the end, the costs even out. But if you see an urgent need to have 16 rocket disconnection mechanisms too, be my guest. Just be aware that HQMing only the TC compartment is already 100hqm or so, with upkeep on top. Definitely not for me.
:)

(Do I really need to build a 15 rocket external TC?)
*No. You Do You :)
