It is June 6th 1986 and 40 NASCAR stock cars are lined up deep in the Poconos for 500 miles. Dale Earnhardt leads the points championship but having won last time out in California, Darrell Waltrip in Junior Johnson's #11 is determined to hunt him down. It's round number 12 of the season and at the bottom of the entry list the Sadler Brother's attempt their 6th race of the year, this time with North East driver and first time starter "Buddy Roscoe". The Sadler Brothers have seen speed with young Davey Allison earlier in the year, but Buddy is an unknown.

What lies ahead is a grueling test of man and machine. Can he make it all 500 miles??
