RuneScape Leagues II: Equilibrium is underway, and region locking is already showing where it works well in RS3 and where the game pushes back against it.
We discuss whether RuneScape 3’s interconnected, vertical progression is a natural fit for region locking, the tradeoffs created by committing to only part of the world, and why those restrictions can also make planning easier and produce more distinctive builds.
We also compare how our own Leagues runs are developing, including region and Relic choices, task and point farming, whether Kandarin was the right first pick, and the strategies beginning to emerge now that players have had several days with the League. Transmutation has changed the Runecrafting equation, Golden Touch is proving exceptionally powerful, and some of our pre-launch theorycrafting has already been overturned.
Is region locking ultimately the right format for an RS3 League, or does RuneScape need a League designed around the way RS3 itself is structured?
RSBANDBUpdate! is a weekly RuneScape podcast focused on long-term systems, lore, design philosophy, player expectations, and the direction of the game.
