In rotational friction welding, one workpiece is rapidly rotated and pressed against a second workpiece under high pressure. The resulting friction generates heat, softening the contact surfaces. Once the optimal temperature is reached, the rotation stops and the pressure is increased. The result: the parts are firmly joined – without any welding wire, flame, or gas.
