Journey into the social and political world of Roman Emperors with one of the world’s foremost classicists, Mary Beard. In her newest book, Emperor of Rome, Beard takes readers inside the Imperial palace for an in-depth look at conspiracies, power, and what it meant to be emperor. She also goes beyond the emperor himself to introduce us to his wives and lovers, rivals and slaves, court jesters and soldiers. Beard brings her classic wit, charm, and scholarship to the Chicago Humanities stage to chat about politics and corruption in one of the most intriguing eras of history.
