Yes! It's a fresh new cover for a fresh new remake! I was over the moon (lol if you played the game) when Nintendo announced the switch remake for one of the most beloved Mario RPG's out there. I really wanted to release a TTYD cover in the past but was unsure how to execute it with the original Gamecube's synth-y soundtrack with not a lot of room to work with in regards to live instruments. Fast forward, this remake features way more new composed music than I could have ever imagined, within cutscenes and shop themes etc. I loved how the remake felt very much like the latest Paper Mario (the Origami King) as it was the same team that tackled this remake, but that definitely made covering this track a lot easier...or so I thought. Upon hearing the new, epic-ly big orchestration of Rogueport's theme, I was both excited yet nervous, wondering if I could even pull that kind of sound off in a cover. The transcription process was one of the longest, as I kept defaulting to things that came from the Gamecube version that had been modified just slightly enough to throw me for a loop. I also had to make some educated guesses while arranging the parts too, as the remake's score is so dense and moving. As I was picking out the instrumentation and overall project planning, I also happened to assemble the same crew of musicians I used in my Fire Emblem Engage cover, plus Evan as well. I knew I couldn't cover this on my own without missing a ton of layers, and I am so grateful that I not only have so many talented musicians/creators who I can call for a massive project, but to have a continuously growing camaraderie between the eight of us on and away from music. This cover was quite a lot of work to put together to get just right, and I'm glad it turned out the way it did. Enjoy!
