Okay, I'll be honest. When Disney announced they were switching Rock 'n' Roller Coaster from Aerosmith to The Muppets, I had some serious doubts. How do you take a high-speed launch coaster and make it work with felt puppets? Well, turns out Disney figured it out, and the results are way better than I expected.
The newly reopened Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring The Muppets at Disney's Hollywood Studios feels fresh while keeping everything that made the original work. The launch is still intense, the inversions still get you screaming, but now you've got Dr. Bunsen Honeydew's wild inventions and Animal going absolutely nuts on the drums throughout the experience.
What impressed me most is how quickly Disney turned this around. The refurbishment wasn't super long, but they managed to completely reimagine the pre-show, update all the audio, and give the whole experience a Muppets makeover that actually feels cohesive. The new soundtrack blends classic Muppets music with that rock energy the coaster needs, and somehow it just works.
The queue updates are solid too. Instead of G-Force Records, you're now walking through Muppet Studios, and the theming feels way more integrated with the rest of the park. Plus, seeing Kermit trying to direct this chaotic recording session in the pre-show is genuinely entertaining.
I was skeptical, but Disney proved me wrong here. This refurb shows they can take a classic attraction and give it new life without losing what made it special in the first place. Sometimes change is good, and this is one of those times.
