"Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy", by British hard rock super-group Bad Company in 1979, is the first single from the group's fifth studio album Desolation Angels after a two year break from touring. Though not their highest charting single at #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart, it is their best selling , and was certified gold. The song is supposed to maximize the use of rock and roll as a form of escapism by performing a big show to thrill the crowd seemingly not so different from a circus. Bad Company enjoyed great success throughout the 1970's. Their first three albums reached the top five in the album charts in both the U.K. and U.S. Several of their singles remain staples of classic rock radio. The band's name came from a Victorian book of morals that showed an innocent child looking up at an unsavory character leaning against a lamppost with a caption reading "beware of bad company".
