Latin rock band Santana's version of "Black Magic Woman" in 1970 became one of one of their biggest hit singles reaching #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1971. The original song was recorded by Fleetwood Mac two years earlier. In 1967 Santana auditioned for a concert at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco and was told by the convert promoter that their Latin fusion style music would never make it in the Frisco music scene. Since then Santana has sold more than 90 million records worldwide making them one of the world’s best selling groups of all time. They have earned eight Grammy Awards, three Latin Grammy Awards, and in 1998, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their music genre includes Latin rock, blues rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, jazz fusion, chicano rock, and pop rock.
