High-tech robotic eyes may sound like science fiction, but this is a real technology that’s helping blind people see again.
In this video I break down:
- What bionic eyes are and how they work
- The current state of this technology and examples of real bionic eyes
- The mind-blowing potential future applications of these devices
Bionic eyes capture images of what's around the user, transmit those signals wirelessly to electrodes implanted in their retinas or brain, and stimulate cells to let them see general shapes and shades of light and dark
While this technology isn't currently a miracle cure that gives patients perfect vision, it can still transform how they get around the world
