Don't click away just because we said "roguelite" - Roboquest VR is the one that earns the genre back. Pete Austin has put 30+ hours into the Steam build and waited for the Quest version before delivering his full 6DOF Reviews verdict.
Roguelite fatigue is real, and Pete Austin says so himself in the opening breath of this review - then spends nine minutes explaining why Roboquest VR is the exception. Flat2VR Studios' rebuild of RyseUp's 2023 roguelite shooter isn't a port with motion controls bolted on: manual reloads, physical weapon handling, and a movement system built around slides, double jumps and grind rails make it feel native to the headset. Pete digs into the branching pathways that keep every run from opening the same way, the 80-weapon loot pool where a bow, a flamethrower and a set of power gauntlets genuinely change how you play, the class system that actually shifts your approach, and enemy design so readable you can track a dozen robots mid-chaos. He also covers what the Quest build gives up against Steam - dulled textures, less flashy effects, the occasional texture pop - and why none of it stopped him. Verdict: 8.5/10, Hectic. The kind of game where you put the headset on for twenty minutes and lose two hours.
