Given that Kang was supposed to be the main adversary of The Multiverse Saga, Marvel has been relatively silent on what they plan to do with the character after Jonathan Majors was fired after his trial ended in a guilty judgment.
Though there has been mixed reaction to Downey Jr. returning to the MCU as a new character, his portrayal of Doctor Doom is significantly more intriguing than Kang's.
There is not the same bond with Kang as there was with Thanos in The Infinity Saga, despite the fact that he was involved in several initiatives in The Multiverse Saga.
But the return of Downey Jr. has the potential to seriously agitate the MCU heroes, particularly those who were close to Tony Stark.
