Warner Bros. attempted to create an origin narrative for Green Lantern, an interstellar police officer from DC Comics, prior to Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman overhauling the DCEU timeline.
Ryan Reynolds played Hal Jordan, a regular guy who gets abilities via a ring and joins the Green Lantern Corps.
Warner Bros. had intended for Green Lantern to be the first movie in a new DC shared world, so had the movie done well, it would have been followed by a sequel featuring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan.
