One of the many DWR funded projects that cares for human and fish communities alike is the Merced River Irrigation Improvements and Fish Habitat Restoration Project. This project has modernized water delivery for agriculture and created a better environment for salmon.
DWR's Riverine Stewardship Program Prop. 13 and Facilitating Improvements to Systemwide Habitat (FISH) Program funded over $18 million for this project. DWR staff worked with the Merced Irrigation District, Cramer Fish Sciences, and private landowners to get this project completed. It's a win for people, the Merced River, and fish for generations to come.
