Despite the proliferation of LED streetlighting and Philips recently announcing they would discontinue production of SOX/LPS lamps by 2020; a newly developed neighborhood in my area, for some reason, is lit with 55 watt Low Pressure Sodium street lights.
This tract is also located about 30 miles north past the light pollution controlled zone around Palomar observatory.
