A quick description on how the "backup" mode works and a trick* I came up with to get such a bulb to automatically illuminate in the event of a power outage
*You will need an illuminated light switch (Levition 5611 or GE Lighted Handle Mercury Switch) that puts a neon lamp in series with the load when in the "OFF" position and a wall-wart AC adapter or door-bell transformer in parallel with the bulb.
