Rise of Billionaires & Global Inequality with Corresponding Destruction of Democracy: Oxfam Report
There are over 6,000 billionaires on the planet. 12 of the richest have the same money that the poorest 4 billion people (half the global population) have. Global inequality has never been higher in human history.
We often talk about getting the public to understand climate change, so they can force governments to act strongly on climate change. This is not realistic. Billionaires are in control, not democratic governments.
Thus, for any action on climate change, all one needs to do is to get some billionaires onboard to address the problem.
I chat about all these things and more, basing my discussion on the new Oxfam International report on billionaires released on the first day of Davos, the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual conference of billionaires and other world leaders in Davos, Switzerland.
