Welcome back to C64 University for Part 2 of our disk ripping series!

In the last video, we looked at ripping copy-protected Commodore 64 disks using a ZoomFloppy and a modified 1541. But many of you jumped in the comments to point out a great alternative: If you have a 1571 drive, you might not need a parallel cable at all.

You asked, so I’m delivering the receipts. Today we are testing the 1571's "Burst Mode" (SRQ) to see if it’s fast enough to handle protection schemes without hardware mods.

In this follow-up:
The 1571 Advantage: How the serial cable + SRQ signal mimics parallel speeds.
The Proof: Ripping Ghostbusters and testing it on the C64U (No patches needed!).
The "Ugly Duckling": Why speed isn't enough for Arkanoid (VMAX 3.0).
The Fix: Using the remaster tool to patch cartridge checks and sync alignment.
