The Rings of Power showrunners recently BOASTED about a Galadriel-Sauron-Celeborn “love triangle” storyline for Season 3. Unsurprisingly Tolkien fans are left feeling grossed out and upset... The writers are proudly leaning into romantasy, doubling down on the controversial Halbrand/Sauron romance while finally introducing Celeborn, only to turn him into part of the love triangle.
In this video we break down the latest comments from the showrunners, the fan backlash, and why so many Tolkien fans see this as another major betrayal of the source material. This is unfortunately par for the course as so many big studios are enabling the homogenization and bastardization of beloved IPs in the pursuit of audiences outside of the core fandom on which their IP was grown.
