We find ourselves in Rincon de la Victoria, parked in a familiar car park near the market, where we stayed this time last year. There’s a campsite further along, but we prefer the parking area, which clears out ahead of the Wednesday market, making it a peaceful spot. After applying sun cream, we head to the beach for a stroll and plan to grab some chicken for lunch. Later, we’ll enjoy a cocktail, reminiscing about a dear friend we met here last year, who sadly passed away, and I’ll have a girly cocktail in his memory. It’s a reminder to live life fully and embrace moments like these, far from the stress of a 9-to-5.
Our day continues with a beer pit stop, a sandwich instead of the chicken, and some shopping before a light dinner at 100 Montaditos, a Spanish version of Wetherspoons. Despite not getting the chicken we wanted, the day ends peacefully, with no washing up required.
The morning brings more sunshine as we prepare for the next leg of our journey to Gibraltar, though the road to Sotogrande is one of the worst in Spain. Thankfully, we make it through and arrive in Sotogrande, where the peaceful parking area remains a hidden gem, no longer listed on databases, preserving its quiet charm.
