5 years ago I was diagnosed with degenerative hips and lower spine, I fully believe that if it wasn't for cycling I would be a lot less mobile than I currently am.
However some recent off road motorbike rides and riding my bike with faster harder tyres really gave me a battering and made me rethink things.
Slower softer tyres are the way forward for me now :)
I have also fitted suspension seatposts to all my bikes, they really take a lot of the jarring out of riding.
The other chronic issue is the old left eye, I have suffered with facial paralysis since 1993 with a House-Brackmann grade 5 paralysis (total paraylsis) of the left side of my face. This was caused during surgery to remove an Acoustic Neuroma (a type of brain tumour) which has also left me totally deaf in my left ear.
I have to wear eye protection to keep the draught away from my eye.
I have in the past used googles made by Bolle which were OK, but they steamed up a bit but did a good job of keeping the wind out.
Unfortunately I lost them (they are only cheap so I may buy another pair) but I thought to try these new over glasses which allow me to wear prescription glasses.
Its early days, they don't keep the wind out as well but I managed a 23 mile ride with minimal discomfort.
