It was announced very recently that the once inescapable Rick and Morty was finally getting a movie after all these years. An announcement that reminded me of my fascination with Rick and Morty's complete lack of relevancy in the 2020's when compared to in the late 2010's.
My interest in this topic does not stem from any negative feelings towards the show, but from how baffling it is that what was once the biggest show in the world, has had all of its critical acclaim and pop culture relevance completely disappear from existence, like it never even happened.
What could've been one of the biggest movies of 2017-2019, is instead gonna be one of the most "Whatever, it exists" movies of 2028-2029.
