After SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg passed away in November of 2018, the internet came up with a way to honor his legacy in the greatest way possible: By having the most iconic moment of his show happen in real life, with the then-upcoming Super Bowl 53 and its Halftime Show. Unfortunately, what we ended up getting, was NOT what the internet would consider the perfect tribute to Stephen Hillenburg.
