The Man Who Built Mt Wilson: George Ellery Hales Astronomical Legacy Active Galactic 2020-02-25 | George Ellery Hale was a visionary who changed astronomy through technological advancements, strategic partnerships, and a desire to provide scientists with the best possible equipment. Hale helped create Mt Wilson, a telescope site in Southern California that sparked an astronomy boom in the area. Mapping the Moon for Apollo 11 Active Galactic 2019-07-18 | Distant Lens, an original documentary short from Active Galactic, tells the unbelievable true story of how a scrappy group of planetary scientists at the University of Arizona put their knowledge to the ultimate test to provide NASA with the vital information they neededto send a man to the moon. Dr. Gerard Kuiper and Ewan Whittaker, two brilliant and sometimes eccentric lunar scientists, were thrust to the forefront of exploration when they were tasked with taking the first up-closephotographs of the moon's surface and mapping the moon for the eventual Apollo 11. This telescope has two mirror surfaces that will help astronomers study Cherenkov radiation with higher precision than ever.
