British motorcycle manufacturer Maeving is a relatively new company making small electric motorbikes for city riding, with retro styling and relatively affordable prices.

Aimed at style conscious commuters, Maeving's first model (called the RM1) proved a success but its limited performance was off putting for some riders who need to take in dual carriageways on their daily ride.

Feedback from initial customers has led to this, the @Maeving RM1S a reengineered version of the original, which has more power and a theoretical 70mph top speed. It's still learner legal and still designed principally for the city, but how will it cope with the open road?

We spent a day with the RM1S in and around London, to see if the Coventry company's second offering lives up to its promise, and if it can convince more commuters to switch to electric motorcycles.
