Reversals can cause confusion and consternation. I made peace with them. Reversals take a 78-card deck and make it a 156-card deck!
It’s usually not the direct opposite. Taking the energy or meaning of the card in a different direction. Look at the impact of gravity on the image. Let go. Release. Look at what gravity is doing. Joy leading to pain. Pain being released. Changing your current behavior. Shorthand reversals. Just to get you thinking.
MAJOR ARCANA
• Empress R: Stop mothering or being emotionally immature
• Lovers R: Something which brought you joy is now bringing you pain. Retirement.
• Temperance: You’re gonna make mess.
• Tower R: An explosion is coming or you are dealing with the aftermath/rubble
• Star R: Refill your well. Stop giving freely
• Judgement R: Don’t be judgy or know that you are being unfairly judged or you are judging
WANDS
• Ace W R: Don’t begin. Plant seeds. Wait. Hold
• 2 Wands R: Drop the phone. Jump into the world. Let go of a worldview, perhaps a view of your community
• 10 Wands R: Lay down your burdens.
• Knight of W R: Don’t charge out and start saving people.
CUPS
• 7 of Cups R: Stop daydreaming. Pick a cup/idea and do something.
• Knight of Cups R: Disappointment or getting realistic. Stop babying someone. Stop soft peddling
PENTACLES
• 2 of Pentacles R: Decide if you need to drop a project. Select what you can’t juggle and drop it.
• 5 of Pentacles R: Letting go of a poverty mentality. Accepting help
• 6 of Pentacles R: Stop giving! Hold back. You may not have to be fair & equal to everyone.
• 8 of Pentacles: Again, stop working but also refrain from trying to make everything work. Let others do their part.
• King of Pentacles: Being crushed by responsibility. The coin & the hand
SWORDS:
• Ace of Swords R: Stop fighting. Choose not to engage. So you can live to fight another day.
• 2 of Swords R: Don’t choose. Step back from the decision. Stay in the dark or withdraw completely until you know more.
• 3 of Swords R: Let you heart heal.
• 9 of Swords R: Drop your hands and look at the roses in your life. Acceptance of being hurt and or betrayed. Understanding your anxiety. Gining greater inderstnading of your fears.
• 10 of Swords R: It’s over. Done. Cooked. They can’t hurt me anymore than this!
• Queen of Swords R: Know that your judgement may be unreliable, even if you intellectually think you are in the right.
