"And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. According to biblical prophecy, there is coming an event in which millions of people all over the world will instantly and suddenly disappear off the face of the earth and into Heaven in a split second before a period of seven years of judgment strikes the earth in a horrendous time known as the Tribulation period. This event is known as the "rapture." During the midpoint of the Tribulation period of judgment upon earth after the rapture, Revelation 11 indicates that two witnesses will appear on earth from Heaven to be witnesses and to pronounce certain judgments upon mankind during their time on earth before being killed and supernaturally resurrected.
For centuries, theologians have been divided on the identity of the two witnesses in Revelation 11. The Book of Enoch implies that they are Enoch and Elijah, while John seems to indicate that they will be Moses and Elijah. In Zechariah they appear to be Zerubbabel and Joshua. One modern theologian is convinced that they are Daniel and Elijah. Many people believe that the two witnesses will be Enoch and Elijah. The origin of this view is traced back to Tertullian, who in turn took the view from a suspect and corrupted portion of the book of Enoch. The biblical weight of evidence indicates that the other witness along with Elijah will indeed be Moses.
