I have covered countless true crime cases for many years, and my team wanted to share more about the messages I receive from killers in prison, or suspected killers in jail, fairly often. While my main objective in true crime storytelling is to tell the stories of the victims and their families, as a journalist, you must cover all sides of a story. This includes trying to understand the criminal mindset of somebody who commits violence. In an attempt to tell stories and cases to their fullest, this has included communication with killers...many on death row. From the Spy Killer, to Arizona's most recent convicted serial killer, to a man executed months ago, to the Zombie Hunter, to high-profile killers in California...these are some of the messages I have received (and continue to receive) and context behind them.
