Once you know the story of these tiles, you’ll see them all across Brisbane and even all throughout our International Terminal.
Brisbane Tuff Tiles were originally quarried from the Kangaroo Point Cliffs as a building material in the 1800s. The International Terminal reclaimed a stockpile of Brisbane Tuff Tile from the Brisbane City Council in its 2013 redevelopment project.
Now, as part of our Future BNE terminal and security upgrades, this tile is being reclaimed and re-used again. Local design and manufacturing company – FIVE MILE RADIUS – will be recycling the tile along with other reclaimed project materials from across Brisbane to create bespoke terrazzo finishes within the terminal upgrade.
