Olus Wiater was a Polish officer who served as the gunner's mate on the Obra Dinn, during its final voyage in 1802. He was shot by Fourth Mate John Davies when the two scuffled over Wiater's pistol.

Wiater is voiced by a locally-popular Polish actor Piotr Adamczyk, best known for his portrayal of Pope John Paul II in a 2005 Italian TV miniseries Karol: A Man Who Became Pope and its 2006 sequel, Karol: The Pope, The Man.
