Braemar Media | Return march of Lonach Highlanders through Cairngorms Park during 2024 Lonach Gathering in Scotland @BraemarMedia | Uploaded 1 month ago | Updated 10 hours ago
The Lonach Highlanders return march through Strathdon in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland, on Saturday 24th August 2024. This was part of the 2024 Lonach Highland Gathering & Games, a march that the men of Strathdon in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, have done for several generations.
At the front are the 3 Lonach Highlanders with their Lochaber axes, then the Lonach Pipe Band, followed by Sir James Forbes, Patron of the Lonach Highland and Friendly Society. The standard bearers lead the Lonach Highlanders, with their ceremonial Swords, Lochaber axes and eight-foot long pikes. The men are members of Clan Forbes, Gordon and Wallace, each with their own tartan, and at the rear is Socks the Lonach horse, ready to carry any weary Highlanders.
