What's inside a fluorescent fixture that automatically lights up during power outages. An 8W T5 fluorescent tube with an inverter, a battery and a small transformer for charging. I reverse engineered the schematic, explained how does it work and measured the tube voltage and current waveforms on an oscilloscope. Trying to modify the fixture to operate on mains voltage using a magnetic ballast.
