How electrical wiring used to look like in houses and apartments in the old days in Czechoslovakia and most of Europe. How the wall sockets were wired. Aluminium wires, a TN-C network (2 wire system) with a PEN wire, combining the function of an earth/ground wire (PE) and a neutral wire (N). Broken PEN (which was called "neutral" back then) made the metal parts of appliances live at mains voltage (220V back then, now 230V). Most of wirings were DIY, wired wrong and using unsuitable wires, and these dangerous systems remain in older buildings to this day, still posing a risk of fire or electric shock.
