Building an effective Deep Research System requires mastering three critical questions what to search, when to search, and how to search. Unlike a simple automated Google search, a deep research system must understand the context of an inquiry and dynamically determine the best sources to explore. These sources might include web data, internal company databases, SQL tables, or even vector stores.
The real challenge lies not just in performing searches but in deciding intelligently what to look for and when to do it. Deep research involves an ongoing interplay between retrieval, reasoning, and generation, the system searches a little, reasons on the findings, and then searches again based on new insights. This recursive process allows it to dig deeper, refine its focus, and uncover more meaningful results.
