The Retract-A-Gate is super easy to install - no handy man required! This customer had to install to her banister post but she did not want to screw into the post. She made her own adapter by taking a piece of wood and strapping it to her post. This created a nice flat surface to attach the brackets to. Retract-A-Gate has a similar installation (Stair Banister Adapter Kit) that allows installation to banister posts without screwing into the post. On the wall side, she used spacers to push the brackets out from the wall so the baseboards would not interfere with the gate attaching the brackets.
