With so many phenomenal entries in our singing competition, our judges had a tough job on their hands but we have finally picked a top 3! This competition was judged by external industry professionals including:
- West End Star CARLEY STENSON
Stenson is a West End actress know for starring as 'Elle Woods' in LEGALLY BLONDE, 'Princess Fiona' in SHREK THE MUSICAL and 'Lady of the Lake' in SPAMALOT and 'Carley' on tour with DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS.
- BENJAMIN NEWSOME
As a Casting Director, Newsome has recently just wrapped up on the 5 star production of 'HAIR' which was at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester, the UK Tour of RUMPY PUMPY starring Linda Nolan, working on the World Premiere of the Welsh musical MY LANDS SHORE, the UK Tour of THAT'S JEWISH ENTERTAINMENT and the UK Premiere of the Off-Broadway musical 'YANK!'.
- STE CLOUGH
Theatre credits include: Original Cast of GROUNDHOG DAY (The Old Vic, London); Original UK Cast of BIG THE MUSICAL; West End's JERSEY BOYS, SPAMALOT (UK Tour), ANNIE GET YOUR GUN (UK Tour); Original West End cast of SHREK THE MUSICAL and much more.
- AMY WEST
Graduated from The Urdang Academy in 2013. Upon leaving West joined the Touring Productions of GHOST THE MUSICAL, TOPHAT and JERSEY BOYS, and now is currently in MAMMA MIA at the Novello Theatre in the west end.
- FLORA LEO
The composer of our competition song, 'Andy'.
Flora says: “One of the most enjoyable collaborations I have been part of in the last few years is with Spirit Young Performers Company. The music videos they have made of ‘Andy’, ‘Play the Villain’ and ‘The Audition Song’ were executed to a professional standard and feature some of the best and most talented young musical theatre performers in the UK. I was delighted for ‘Andy’ to be picked as the competition song this year and have loved listening to all the entries.
A huge congratulations to our top 3 and everybody else who entered!!
As prize for 3rd and 2nd place, the finalists will receive scholarships to attend an SYPC half term intensive in 2017. The winner will receive their own original song and music video!
