Brazil’s Cerrado is the world’s most biodiverse savannah. It secures water for eight out of twelve of the country’s most important river basins. But unsustainable agriculture and land use have degraded it severely. A movement of more than 180 organizations has set out to restore two million hectares of the Cerrado by 2030.
“Restoring Brazil’s Cerrado Savannah” has been recognized as a World Restoration Flagship under the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. The official launch is on August 26, at the UN Convention to Combat Desertification’s Conference of Parties in Mongolia. The full film is coming later this year.
