In this video, I take a deep dive into the legendary AN/PRC-74, considered one of the first true HF manpack radios. Its compact and portable form factor set the standard for many military radios that followed.

I purchased this unit as untested, with no guarantee it would even power on. After careful work, troubleshooting, and a few key modifications.

Currently, the radio operates in USB (Upper Sideband) only, which is one of its main limitations. In the future, I may explore modifying it to support LSB (Lower Sideband) as well.
