This is Part 1 of our 4-part series bringing a rusty, mistreated 2013 Yoder Smokers YS640s back to life using the proper methods and genuine Yoder Smokers parts. We start by walking through everything that's changed since 2013 — wheels, grates, the diffuser, firebox, thermocouple, and controller — then run a clean-burn at 500°F to loosen years of built-up gunk before we ever pick up a tool. From there we tear the grill all the way down, pulling the door, thermocouple, igniter, firebox, controller, and hopper while pointing out rust and wear along the way so nothing gets missed once sanding and painting start.

After watching the tear down in part 1, don't miss parts 2, 3 and 4 where we'll show the sanding and refinishing process, the installation of new parts and finally a reveal and first cook on the finished, like-new grill.
